Pre-Production

Director

Works with the team gathered by the project’s producer to guide each member to success, from pre-production through post. Oversees tasks including the creation of the shot list and storyboards. Works with the cinematographer to communicate their vision and bring it to the screen. Works closely with the actors during production, and with the editor during post.

Cinematographer

Works closely with the director on the storyboards and shot list, and brings the director’s vision to the screen during production. Can also work as camera operator for an additional fee.

Production

Assistant Director

Handles day-to-day operations during production. Oversees the progress of production according to the schedule, maintains order on set, and prepares call sheets. Cares for the health and safety of the cast and crew.

Boom Operator

Holds boom pole. Can also work as production sound mixer for an additional fee.

Production Assistant

Carries out various tasks and runs errands for the director and producer. Assists with lighting setups, handles props, and any/all other odd jobs on set.

Makeup Artist / Hairdresser

Applies facial makeup and does hairstyling. Responsible for keeping up with the lead cast’s appearances on set. Rate dependent on number of cast members. May require separate makeup artist and hairdresser for an additional fee.

Still Photographer

Takes promotional/BTS photos throughout each production day. Will occasionally require cast to reenact a shot directly after cutting to capture promotional stills.

BTS Videographer

Captures each production day with promotional/BTS video footage. Also takes on-set cast and crew interviews throughout the day.

Post-Production

Editor

Cuts the film together in a way that represents the director’s vision. Works until picture is locked.

Foley Artist

Records sound effects that were not captured on set, matching them with the final film.

Score Composer

Works with the director to determine the relationship between the project and its soundtrack. Scores the project with music that matches its tone, and fully capitalizes on emotional impact.
